The counters become rewards and punishments to try and influence you to use the card in a certain manner
But if you Cascade into a card that has the option to counter a spell or have a different effect, such as Cryptic Command, then youre not getting screwed out of the advantage that Cascade provides by getting stuck with a card that you can't play (unless you want to counter your own spell)
This one's one of the only ways to win mythic packs, and is not for noobs
