Energy counters have always occupied an interesting space in Magic design

Any Enchantments on the creature go to the graveyard, any equipped artifacts fall off, and any counters disappear

That alone is quite strong, but since it distributes a "Grave Pact" effect to other deathtouch creatures, creature combat becomes quite hopeless

That context is invaluable
